End of Week 31 - Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas time.

Today's post will be a little short and sweet, as we are hitting the sales this morning and then we'll come back and chill out for the rest of the day :-)

I have had a great week this week, and yesterday was wonderful.  We had a fabulous Christmas day and for the first time ever we cooked turkey!  Yep - can you believe that! We bought a Turkey Breast and cooked it in the slow-cooker - oh my it turned out delicious!

Anyways, onto the workout sheet :-)


And yes - I did do a work out Christmas morning!  I decided if I wanted to have some treats yesterday then I had better earn some extra calories LOL!

Oh yes, I also reached 58 on the fitness scale - and that means I have achieved a Good Fitness Level. Having gone from Poor, Below Average, Average to Above Average. Next stop is 68 where I will reach Excellent Fitness level :-) The info can be found here.

Yep - I did it!  I broke that next level, so I am now below 170lb!  I have 9.5lb to reach my first major goal of this journey!

Yes I did eat properly LOL!  And we also had a lovely Christmas Day meal and I even treated myself to 3 Quality Street sweets :-)  Normally hubby and I would probably have polished off half the tin!!

End of Week 30 - Only a little bit but..

Good morning everyone.

Hope you have had a wonderful week.

Here we are fast approaching Christmas day.  My daughter arrived home safely, for the holidays, last Friday night.  It is so good to be back to a full family for Christmas :-)

What are your plans to keep on track over Christmas?  Mine is purely not to over indulge!  I will have a few little treats, but in moderation and I will still be doing my workouts :-)

Last year I would have been quite happy to go through a box of chocolates in a couple of sittings! This year we have bought in way less on the treat side of things to keep temptation away, but we do have some.  My plan is not to have the tin/box in arms reach - so take two and put the box back in the cupboard for another day, maybe we won't even open them!  I can do this!

I have also gone up another rung on the fitness ladder - up to 57.  At 58 I become of a good Fitness level.  I started at Poor, below Average, Average, currently above Average :-)  This post explains in more detail.

End of Week 29 - Did you know?

Happy Monday!

You know what scares me most about this journey?  Seeing an increase in weight!

Now, I know that I still have a way to go, and have been trying to introduce some strengthening exercises as I need to lose some of the flabby bits.  The bat wings (so they call them) on my under arms, the belly and the upper thighs.  I think that these need to be toned up - however in order to do that I have to strengthen those muscles.

I always thought the old adage of muscle weighing heavier than fat was true. Did you know that it actually isn't?!

Muscle does not weigh more than fat! A pound, is a pound, is a pound.  One pound of muscle weighs one pound, one pound of fat weighs one pound. However, one pound of fat takes up more space than one pound of muscle!

So, you exercise, and become leaner but may weigh the same.  That's where the tape measure comes in handy,  keeping track of your measurements is a great way to track your body change too.

I am going to take some additional measurements; my upper arm, my upper thigh and my lower leg. Then if I have an increase in weight I can take these measurements and see if they have changed at all - this will help me keep motivated!

Maybe, these are measurements I should have taken at the start. However, I know I have lost a lot and that my clothes fit 100% better and have even had to put lot's of clothes ready for the charity shop - I don't want to keep them and have them, because I don't want to have to wear them ever again!

Last week I didn't do any strength training, but this week I want to step that up.  Therefore I have to take those extra measurements.  I also have a record of my chest, waist, hips and thighs, but these measurements are for each individual part, so my upper arm (did this measurement with my arm out straight so my bat wing was showing then measured LOL!), upper thigh and lower leg.


Decided to also do my other measurements and found that I have uniformly lost another inch off everything LOL!  And for some odd reason, my right thigh is bigger than my left thigh - hubby says it's cause I walk with a limp :-)  I do favour the one leg when I walk, think that's because of my bad right knee :-)

Anyways, so here's last weeks workout.


Two days with two extra workouts, was out and about this week catching up on that Christmas shopping!

End of Week 28 - A new strategy :-)

Good morning/afternoon/evening where ever in the world you may be :-)

Are you all getting ready for the Christmas season?  Have you put your decorations up yet?  We have a tradition that the tree and outside lights are up for the 1st December no sooner :-)

We are counting down the days to when Shannon (my eldest daughter) will be home for the Christmas holidays.  Only another 11 more sleeps till she is home from college !!

Let's get straight in there with the workouts for this week :-)


Yes you are reading that correctly!  I did the Treadclimber workout twice a day for 3 days this past week.

Why?

Well, when I started this journey back in May, my ultimate (first goal) was to reach 160 lb by the time I turn 50.  My birthday is the 5th January, so only another 4 weigh ins until that point :-) So, realistically speaking, I will not make that goal by the 5th January.  However, I am going to try and get as close as possible!  

I will not just stop there though - I will continue until I reach that first goal, then I am going to review it and see where I can go from there - more on that at that time :-)


Due to the weather changing here in Canada, I haven't been doing my Nordic Walking because there has been snow and ice around.  However, this past week, that all got washed away with some rain and warmer than normal temperatures.

Hubby and I decided to get out for a walk yesterday and I made a new personal best!  We have more snow arriving today - so not sure when our next walk out will be, but hopefully we will still get out for the occasional bit of fresh air on the weekends :-)
